Checking in

Nope, I haven’t fallen off the earth – I’m still working on my SBS. I can see the finish line now, and I hope I can share a picture of the finished quilt with you in a few days.

I know I’m on a low fabric diet, but a small indulgence must be allowed. Jennifer Chiaverini has a new fabric line for Red Rooster Fabrics: The New Year's Quilt Collection; and it was released on the market not too long ago. So of course I just had to get some! Two charm packs and a strip roll from arrived from the Fat Quarter Quilters yesterday:

And I had a notification from Dawn over at Our Adventures In Korea that she has tagged me for a meme. The rules are:

1. Once you are tagged, link back to the person who tagged you.
2. Post THE RULES on your blog.
3. Post 7 weird or random facts about yourself on your blog.
4. Tag 7 people and link to them.
5. Comment on their blog to let them know they have been tagged.

I have been tagged for this one twice before, and I’m running out of things to share, but here it goes:

1. Most women I know have a purse or a small handbag that goes with them everywhere and every day. I don't have one of those - I use a back pack, different bags (quilted, leather, plastic...), or stuff my pockets, or what ever is handy for what I need at the time.
2. I’m 161 centimetres high (5’3”).
3. I’m a period eater – meaning that I get hooked on something and can eat that every day for quite a long time, and then I get hooked on something else, and I don’t touch the previous addiction for months.
4. I love Norwegian milk chocolate!
5. I work as a historian – doing a Ph.D. in medieval history...
6. I have very little restraint when it comes to….. chocolate and fabric!
7. Audio books and radio theatre on CDs are good company for me when I’m quilting or doing other things that keep my eyes and hands occupied, but not my ears.

This meme has gone around blogland several times – so I think I’ll skip rules number 4 and 5. But if you haven’t done it, and you want to share – please let me know – I’d love to read what you have to say about yourself :o)

Take care and happy quilting!
Sincerely Anne Ida

Four Seasons Quilt Swap - spring

May 1st and deadline for the Four Seasons Quilt Swap is approaching, so I need to get the spring quilt ready to ship - here is a little sneak peek:

I'll show the whole thing once [biiip]have received it. I have been working on and off this for a few days, and I finished the binding half an hour ago, and the quilt is now in the washing machine. I still need to make a label for the back, but as soon as it is appliquéd on - this little darling will be on it's way :o)

I really hope [biiip] will like it!!!!!
Sincerely, Anne Ida

Friday 18 April 2008

Still here + new bloggers

I just thought I'd check in and let you know I'm still here. I have been doing some quilting on my SBS, but basically life has been getting in the way over the last week. Hope to get back on track this weekend :o)

Speaking of SBS: a couple of friends from the SBS mailing list have joined in on the blogging fun - so please pop over and say hi to: Julie and Nicki.

Happy quilting!
Sincerely, Anne Ida

Sylvia's Bridal Sampler

Wohooo! Two posts in one day, don't think I've done that before! But on Friday I promised some more quilty news that I wanted to share, and now I have some time to blog about it. You might remember me working on the Sylvia's Bridal Sampler a while back, and not too long ago I posted a picture of some split Lemoyne Stars; this is what they were for (sorry the pic is so light):

This picture is from Thursday when I brought the quilt top, some backing fabric and a pack of king size cotton batting to my parent's house. With some help from my sister I cleared off the living room floor and layered and basted the quilt sandwich. Yesterday I bought some quilting gloves and today I have started quilting it with a gorgeous shiny army green thread my dear friend Rose got me for Xmas:

Quilting from the top

Quilting from the back

As it is quite heavy I will only be able to do a small section at a time (that arm! -and the neck and shoulders needs looking after).

But if you don't hear from me for a while, Bernie and I are quilting!!!!
Sincerely, Anne Ida

Annual meeting NQF

This weekend is the annual meeting in the Norwegian Quilter's Association. And yesterday Nemo and I took the bus up to Olavsgaard and spent the day getting lots of vitamin Q. The exhibition was great - lots of gorgeous quilts, both traditional and art quilts. Unfortunately we weren't allowed to take pictures to post online at the exhibition, but I thought I'd share some of the rest of the event :o)

This is some of the goodies we received when we registered:

And in the downstairs area a lot and lot of shops had stalls with plenty of goodies to choose from. This is the stall for Lappemakeriet - the LQS where my parents live:

Nemo is checking something out:

Anne Heidi was there with her shop Lappemor, and of course we had to stop by and say "hei" - she is such a sweet lady and it was so great to finally meet her in person. And she had finished her beautiful Truly Scrumptious and had it up on the wall, but of course I forgot to take a pic of it - but here is one of her and Nemo chatting in stead:

Of course I had to spend some money during the day :o)

In the evening it was a lovely dinner - more than 400 quilting ladies (and a handful of men) enjoying ourselves chatting and eating :o)

A big thank you to the organizers for a great day!
Hope you all had a great day too!
Sincerely, Anne Ida

A finish, PIF and some inspiration

Over the last few evenings I have been working on my wallhanging from Rose's Spice pattern from Australian Homespun that I showed in my previous post - and I've finished it! This is how it has turned out:

I'm so happy with it!!! And of course it had to get up on the wall right away :o)

The Pay it Forward is taking a tour of Blogland - and I have signed up for another round, with the lovely Nadine this time. Now Cathi, Linda and Sandra, I haven't forgotten you - my PIF pressies for you will be on it's way soon. And for the rest of you: the first 3 friends to enter a comment on this post will get a little something handmade from me sometime in the 6 upcoming months, under the promise to Pay It Forward. Come on, it's fun and it feels sooo good !

I have also gotten some inspirational mail in the last days - think I'll have time to sew between the reading???

The Norwegian Quilter's Association is having the annual meeting this weekend - and I'll spend the day tomorrow getting lots and lots of vitamin Q! I also have some more quilty news, so stay tuned for over the weekend!

Have a great weekend!
Sincerely, Anne Ida
