B-day pressie

The evenings this last week has been busy stitching on a birthday present quilt. My Aunt turned 60 early this summer, and my Uncle will be 60 in the spring, so this weekend they celebrated their 120 years! Of course I had to make them a quilt :o) A one block repeat lap size quilt:

The pattern is "Pink Lemonade" from Eleanor Burn's book "Quilts Through the Seasons" - supposedly a quilt in a day... depends on how you define "day" - I estimate to have used 24 efficient work hours on this one since I made the first cut, till the last stitch was in the label.

The quilting is just some over all swirls (think you can see it if you enlarge the photo), that were a lot of fun to do! I'm very pleased with this one, and I think they were as well!

Hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely, Anne Ida

It's a beauty. That quilt in a day really means....if you have a support group in the background ironing, cutting and lots of sewing together the other blocks.....LOL

This has turned out so very pretty! Is this block also called "Aunt Suki's choice"? Fitting name, if so.

As usual your quilt has turned out so beautiful. And your aunt and uncle are very lucky people to have you for a niece. I really like the fabric you used for the border and the block centres.Do you know what it is? I know I have seen it on-line some where.
The quilt you did earlier this summer, the disappearing nine patch, is so pretty, too. It was very strange because at the very same time I was making the back of the blue and white sbs swap quilt and using the signature squares as part of the design. I hope to pick up the quilt from the quilter in the next few days.
I always enjoy reading your blog and look forward to your next posting.
Great work!!

My Dear, you always do the most beautiful work! Seems like such a simple pattern, but with your color choices it is a wonderful quilt. I have been on a sewing starvation diet. Olivia got part time afternoon kindergarten and I'm finding it hard to find time to work out a time to sew. I sure do miss it. Julie

Hey, great to see you posting again! :) What a great quilt too - I love most everything from Eleanor Burns. I agree, not all are necessarily done "in a day" but, still, her directions are fairly easy to follow and most go quickly. :) Beautiful job, and hey, I don't see any blue???! :)
