My pile of English paper pieced is steadily growing. Having heaps of fun with these blocks. The hexie in the middle is 1" and the diamonds are 3", so this project is growing quite quickly
I have now stitched up all the pieces I have prepped, so for the next few days my priority will be cutting and prepping - perfect for sitting outside and enjoying the lovely sunny weather we are having at the moment.

Dovetail Finished
Yey, it's finished! And I'm loving how it turned out!
The quilt is Dovetail - a free pattern by Doug Leko and Fat Quarter Shop. However I have managed to mirror image the blocks because I stitched the 45 degree angles the wrong way around.
The fabrics I have used are a layer cake and a jolly bar of fabrics from Blackbird Designs by Moda.
I started the quilt on Sunday June 18th and finished it Sunday June 25th 2017. The finished quilt measures 57"x70".
I have now washed it and it smells so pretty (not of basting glue anymore!) :-D

Slow Sunday Stitching Binding and Some Epp
Yesterday I went to Lappemakeriet and got some binding fabric for my Dovetail quilt. This morning i got it attached to the quilt, and most of the day I have been enjoying the lovely weather on my parents front porch hand stitching it down:
Linking up with Kathy's Quilts and Slow Sunday Stitching, and I'll go blog hopping later tonight;-)

I'm also working on some more star blocks - really enjoying these :-)

Working on Dovetail
I have made heaps of progress on my Dovetail quilt this week. Once I figured out what I had done wrong, and how I could make my mistake work, the blocks came together quickly. I spent quite some time shuffling the blocks around, trying to make sure I got it balanced, but I still managed to get the blocks mixed up while putting the top together.
I'm still very happy with how it has turned out so far! I have spent parts of last night and this morning quilting it a very simple meandering:
Just a little corner left to do. So this evening I'll bring it along for a visit to my parents where I'll be working on the binding, and hopefully I'll have a finished quilt sometime this weekend.

Dovetail Quilt
Getting sick in the end of February, and taking a long time recovering, my quilting mojo has been very low. The other day I came across a video by Fat Quarter Shop on Youtube. It presents a very simple pattern by Doug Leko from Antler Quilt Designs that they offer for free. Hopefully this is just the thing to get me back on the go!
I have dug out a jolly bar and a layer cake of Blackbird Designs fabrics I have had in my stash for the longest time. The colours are soft and romantic, and I'm thinking this will be a quilt perfect for summer (perhaps a bit "brown"???)
The blocks are big and the stitching should be quick and simple... However I have managed to turn the 45 degree angle the wrong way (and of course I had made all of them before I realized what I had done), and after a lot of frog stitching I have figured I need to make the blocks as mirror images of the pattern (making the colours twist the opposite way around the center rectangle).
A bit of twisting my brain - but I think I have made it work :-)

Chopping up scraps
I have had a load of scraps laying about on my cutting mat for ages, and today I finally managed to start chopping them into a usable size. Love the look of this pile of 2.5" squares
Back in 2014 there was a QAL in Blogland where lots of pretty "Godnight, Irene" quilts were stitched. I have been sorry I didn't join in and made the quilt then! So figuring I would stitch some leaders-and-enders, and hopefully I will have one of those lovely quilts someday soon, too ;-)
