Like I needed another EPP project - sigh! However I really wanted to play with some bright happy colours and some fussy cutting.
So call me crazy, but I have started stitching the Stargazer quilt by Lilabelle Lane Creations in a selection of Tula Pink fabrics. I just fell for it when I saw it online, and I purchased a kit. It's not all the same fabrics as the original, and I'm going to add some more variety to the fabrics.
This is my first attempt at fussy cutting for epp, and even though they are not perfect, I'm pretty happy with how they turned out :-)

Slow Sunday Stitching Round We Go
It's not laying completely flat, but hopefully that's just tension in the paper pieces, and will solve itself once the block has been appliqued to the background fabrics and the papers have been removed.
I pulled out all the blocks and laid them out over the floor, just to see how the project is coming along (sorry about the light)
20 blocks have come together, and even if I'm not all happy with some of them, it looks like they are playing together nicely.
Discovered I haven't shared the block I finished last Sunday - so here's a close-up
I haven't quite decided what to do for the background, but thinking I will do scrappy, either use more of the blues in the basket or some neutrals I have collected over the years. ...we'll see ;-)

Round We Go Again
I'm not really happy with the contrast in this block, but I'm not doing it again. Hopefully it will blend well with the other blocks.

Teeny Tiny Zipper Pouch
Yesterday I cut into a bit of my precious Tula Pink fabric, and had a bit of fun trying out this pattern for a Teeny Tiny Zipper Pouch from So Sew Easy.
The pattern is clearly written, and I love that she has included a video tutorial that shows every step. It calls for iron on interfacing, I didn't have any in my cupboard, so I used a piece of thin polyester batting and quilted a simple crosshatch. Don't think that made too much of a difference.
I'm quite pleased with how my little pouch turned out - there's a bit much of the zipper tape showing, but at least it is evenly distributed. The zipper and the clip is recycled from a backpack I through out years ago.

Round We Go The Weekend
Friday night was this month's Friday Night Sew In, and I prepared for an evening of stitching with a bit of a cheese overload (sooo good *lol*) and a glass of white wine, enjoying my newly finished red snowflake table topper
Earlier in the day I had been to the post office to pick up the newest addition to my library of quilt books
so I have to admit a lot of my sewing time was spent flipping through the pages and drooling over the colorful photos
However I did get one more Round We Go block put together
My basket of blocks is really starting to fill up - however it doesn't look like I have made a dent in my basket of blues - mostly I have been using up small scraps so far
Today is Sunday and time for some more slow stitching - have one more block on the go that I've been stitching on over coffee this morning:
Pop over to these fun blogs to see what blogland is up to this weekend:
Friday Night Sew In over at Wendy's place
Slow Sunday Stitching over at Kathy's Quilts
Oh Scrap! over at Cynthia's place Quilting is more fun than housework
Thanks for hosting the social blogland sew-togethers, ladies!

Rød Snø
Why call a blog post red snow? What is red Snow?
The final clue of was revealed on Sunday - and guess what? It's a snowflake :-) And since I chose to do this mystery in reds and cream, my table topper ended up as red snow.
This mystery was heaps of fun to do! Just the right amount of work for each section, short enough to keep me going and interested till the end, and I ended up with a pretty table topper
The design reminds me of old knitting patterns (sweaters and mittens) done in two colour ways - often in red/nature combo - so I'm very happy with my colour choice, as well as the end result.
I had a bit of fun playing with my darning foot - doing lines and swirls.
Just finished stitching down the binding tonight, and now I have a table topper for the winter/Christmas season.

- a natural phenomenon caused by the algae Chlamydomonas nivalis turning mountain snow red at certain temperatures.
- an annual festival in Rana, in the northern part of Norway.
- a TV thriller series from 1985 set at a small inn at the border between Norway and Sweden during WW2. People getting killed, bodies disappearing, and I still remember having nightmares about the ventriloquist's dummy made up to look like Hitler. It was truly a scary and thrilling piece of television (especially for a 8yo! However I have watched it again, and it still makes shiver go down my spine).
- My table topper that came about as the result of Rose at Threadbare Creations' seven day mystery

Another Round We Go
Still having heaps of fun with these Round We Go blocks. Rather than
making four of each block pictured on the outside of the seed packets I
have been playing with the design ideas from the booklet and some of my
own puzzle ideas:
So two more blocks have come together
as well as I finished the two blocks I played with on Sunday
More blocks are on the way :-)

A Threadbare Creations Mystery
Rose over at Threadbare Creations is doing a seven day mini mystery sew along. Today is day three, so I'm a tad late to the party, but I really wanted to do this one.
So I had some catching up to do. The day one clue was fairly easy - some strip pieced sections and some four patch blocks
The clue for day two took a bit more time and effort - however totally worth it as these blocks are super cute - there's also some strip pieced bits left over that probably will come in handy in a later clue
Today's clue re-visited those four patches. And now I'm all caught up and looking forward to tomorrow's step :-)
Linking up with Let's Bee Social over at Sew Fresh Quilts - perhaps more will want to play in the mystery ;-)

Some Sunday Stitching
Woohoo, yesterday two more seed packets for Round We Go popped into my mail box, and of corse I had to get to them right away. One block finished over coffee this morning - seven more to go. Guess there's no secret I'm having heaps of fun with these ;-)
I did make a dent in the quilting on my Plan C yesterday, and hopefully I can manage to finish quilting it today.
It's not too densely quilted, so I'm hoping it will be very soft, but at the same time get that nice quilted texture

FNwF: Hopefully Making Progress on Plan C
It's the first day of September, and also the first Friday of this month , and this means there's Friday Night With Friends sewing over at Cheryll's place Gone Stitchin'.
I have got some music playing, my glass of red wine and a huge bowl of popcorn (placed well out of the way of my quilting)
and big hopes of making huge progress on my Plan C quilt.
Goal for tonight is to get the final seams done, the borders stitched on, and get it pressed and sandwiched so I can quilt it over the weekend.
I have sort of made a plan of how it's going to be quilted... but I'm sure it will change along the way.
Stay tuned and hopefully I'll soon have some pictures to share of how it turns out. Until then - there's heaps going on at the houses of everyone participating in the sew-together, gonna go blog hopping on my quilting brakes - join me to see what everyone is up to?
