Non-quilty sewing

A couple of friends are expecting a daughter in about two and a half weeks. Tradition in the family is that the baby is to sleep in a basket. But Mum wasn’t too pleased with the cover on it – a faded purple and pink strawberry print. So she asked me if I could make something else… preferably white. This is what I came up with:

I think it turned out really pretty – and I had fun making it! I did get a confirmation that I’m a quilter, not a seamstress, though ;o)

Happy sewing!
Sincerely, Anne Ida

Trodde først det var du som ventet deg en liten... til jeg begynte å lese. Lekker sak! Det blir flott å legge den lille jenta oppi der! De blir nok beundret av mange....

I think it looks good. Sometimes we need that kind of confirmation don't we? I get asked repeatedly to mend someones clothes because I "know how to sew". I'm sorry, I'm a quilter I don't mend.

It's lovely -- and I know just what you mean. I do make some clothes -- but it's just for fun, not because I'm good at it :0).

Perfect..absolutely perfect. I know Momma-to-be is thrilled. I do so love your feathered star blocks and you do such nice precise piecing. Can't wait to see the quilt you make with these. How big are the blocks?

It looks so pretty, just perfect to welcome a little girl! I understand what you mean, quilters are often aswed to sew and mend clothes, but what we do is something different!!!I wish everybody could understand that!...

Bless the baby who sleeps in this! They will feel the love and not care a whit if the stitching is perfect. It is pretty too. And I love those three feathered stars! Wow. If you set them on point with plain blocks, you won't have to make so many?

Paula gave me the answer I need for my 35 year old son who sometimes says, "Can you mend this..." LOL "I'm a quilter... I don't mend!" Thanks, Paula.

Very pretty.....when pregnant with my first I covered a bassinet just like this one.... made everything coordinated & the baby never slept in it....she screamed everytime I put her there.....my mum said its cos she cannot see out of it she is nosy!! so she slept in her pram & I kept her nappys in it!! Congrats on your quilt being picked for the Sylvias sampler book.....very well deserved as it is sooooo beautiful
