FNSI and Slow Sunday Stitching

Friday night was FNSI over at Wendy's blog, and I had heaps of plans for what I wanted to achieve. When I got home, I dished up a big slice of pizza and a glass of wine

I got my ready cut fabric pieces for Stargazer spread out over the dinner table ready to be glue basted to the paper

However that was about as far as I got before I got distracted by other things and the evening just went by. Yesterday I had big plans of getting back to them after doing some  bit of tidying in the spare room, but I was on duty at work, and whenever I got over to the table the phone would ring.

This morning I have prepped some more hexagons for this week's clue for Wintry Hexies - we'll see how much I get done... not stressing about this.

My seedlings are growing - over the last week the sweet pepper has come up, as well as one little cucumber plant:

Pop on over to Wendy's blog Sugarlane Designs to see what everyone got up to on Friday Night Sew-In. And to Kathy's Quilts to see what the bloggie peeps are doing for Slow Sunday Stitching.

Slow Sunday Resting with Hexagons

Yesterday a new clue for Wintry Hexies arrived in my email, and this week it's two long strips, each of 14 hexies - this is how far I got yesterday

The strips are to be attached to opposite sides of the project piece.

I have gotten started and will bring the remaining pieces out onto the verandah once the sun comes around the corner.

Sunday a week ago I sowed some sweet pepper, cucumber and plum tomato seeds, and itty-bitty tomato plants have started to come up over the last couple of days

FNwF and Slow Sunday Stitching

Friday night was Friday Night with Friends over at Cheryll's blog, and I joined in the fun. Coming home from work I got a pizza in the oven and a glass of wine ready, and started prepping some hexies for the previous two clues for Wintry Hexies and started stitching. However I forgot to take pictures along the way... This morning I got the pieces for this week's clue attached - an this is how it is now looking

Probably the most colorful project I have done - but having fun stitching it :-)

Please stop by and see what everyone was up to friday night over at Gone Stitchin' and what is going on on Slow Sunday Stitching at Kathy's Quilts.

Wishing everyone a wonderful Sunday!

New Clue for Wintry Hexies

Yesterday the clue for Wintry Hexies week 9 arrived  in my email yesterday. This morning I got cutting and glue basting - and of course I had to start stitching.

I have also finished my racoon mug rug - looking great with this morning's cup of coffee

Slow Sunday Stitching Hexies

Still playing catch-up on the wintry hexies project. Yesterday I got together the clue for week 6 - fairly simple stitching 18 hexagons going into two elongated flowers, and it was great as a bring-along piece for me to stitch while visiting my parents

As the picture shows, we had another bout of snow here in Oslo last night, at least the fog from this morning has cleared. Today I'm working on the clue for week 5, which is 34 hexagons framing the piece from the first clues - not sure why but these are taking me quite some time:

Winterse Hexjes Week One

Blog hopping earlier today I came across a hexie mystery at Annelies' blog. The mystery is run by AnneLiefs in the Netherlands and is called Winterse Hexjes (Wintry Hexagons)

I just felt my fingers itch to stitch *lol* so I signed up for the pattern clues. The pattern emails are in dutch, but the pictures say enough for a non-dutch speaking person to understand

The mystery has been up and running for a while, but I'm gonna go at it in my own tempo and enjoy every step of the way.

My sewing room is being used as storage for everything I haven't found a place for since moving, so it is still a complete mess. However I knew where I have stashed some Tula Pink fabrics, and I think I'm gonna have some fun playing with those in this project.

The hexies used in the pattern is 1", but in the mess here in my flat I was only able to find some packets of 3/4" papers, and I don't mind down scaling a bit.

Happy to be stitching something again! And once again linking up with Kathy's quilt and Slow Sunday Stitching.

Slow Sunday Stitching Three More Stars

Still having fun with my Stargazer stars.

These all come from the same piece of fabric from Tula Pink's Slow and Steady Tortoise fabric - love the difference in looks.

Slow Sunday Stitching Some Orange Stars

Orange has never really been my favorite color, but for these little stars they do bring a bit of brightness to the project. I just had to do a star with the "I am a winner" trophy cups,

and the two top stars are made from the same piece of fabric, the fussy cut are the same pattern in alternate colours, and the diamonds are tuned opposite ways (ok, not sure that was an understandable explanation *lol*).

Slow Sunday Stitching Stargazer

Two stars made from the Mini Owls from Tula Pink's True Colors fabric line

Just loving the lacy effect of the print in these fabrics. I have got pieces of it in two other colorways, so there might be more stars made from owl parts :-)

A cup of mid-morning coffee and stitching another star, as well as some large kite hexagon filler blocks, three down fifty seven to go...

Slow Sunday Stitching More Fussy Stars

Having heaps of fun playing with fabric for these little six pointed stars that's going to become the Stargazer quilt. These four blocks

are all from this piece of fabric

I didn't have six repeats of the shapes I fussy cut, however there are lots of shapes in this fabric that are mirror image, and it was a lot of fun to to see how they turned out :-)

Round We Go The Weekend

Friday night was this month's Friday Night Sew In, and I prepared for an evening of stitching with a bit of a cheese overload (sooo good *lol*) and a glass of white wine, enjoying my newly finished red snowflake table topper

Earlier in the day I had been to the post office to pick up the newest addition to my library of quilt books

so I have to admit a lot of my sewing time was spent flipping through the pages and drooling over the colorful photos

However I did get one more Round We Go block put together

My basket of blocks is really starting to fill up - however it doesn't look like I have made a dent in my basket of blues - mostly I have been using up small scraps so far

Today is Sunday and time for some more slow stitching - have one more block on the go that I've been stitching on over coffee this morning:

Some Sunday Stitching

Woohoo, yesterday two more seed packets for Round We Go popped into my mail box, and of corse I had to get to them right away. One block finished over coffee this morning - seven more to go. Guess there's no secret I'm having heaps of fun with these ;-)

I did make a dent in the quilting on my Plan C yesterday, and hopefully I can manage to finish quilting it today.

It's not too densely quilted, so I'm hoping it will be very soft, but at the same time get that nice quilted texture

Round We Go Again

Today I have three more Round We Go blocks to share. Not sure how happy I am with these three blocks. The contrast isn't too god between the blues used in them, and they look kind of washed out...

This is how nine of the blocks I have made so far look together.

Perhaps they won't look too bad once everything come together...?

Some Sunday Stitching

My spinner blocks are spread out all over the living room floor, but my mojo for this Sunday isn't sewing together those long rows of half square hexagons... perhaps later tonight...

This morning I have been playing with a sample piece for some FMQ I put together while I had my machine set up yesterday - just practicing some wavy lines

What to do with this quilted square? My coffee table has all kinds of little knick-knacks spread out, so I decided to pull out needle and thread...

...and turn it into a thread/all-kinds-of-stuff catcher

Dug through my bag of buttons and found this - not sure how old that is, but from the price tag I would guess mid 80s (?)

Another Round We Go block has joined it's friends - having heaps of fun stitching these blocks.

Not really keeping with the program and making four of the same from each seed pack (though I will make more of the same patterns)

Linking up with Slow Sunday Stitching over at Kathy's Quilts and join the celebration of the 5th anniversary for this fun world wide stitching bee. Thanks for keeping it up, Kathy!

Like I Needed Another Project

What to do when temptation knocks on your door? You answer, and invite it in...? At least that's what I did when I discovered Round We Go BOM program by Sue Daley. I really have no need for another project, but this one I just couldn't resist.

It's all (almost) English paper piecing and some appliqué. The epp blocks are round, and then appliquéd to a background. Going to attempt tidying up in some of my blue and teal fabrics for this one. Going through the drawer pulling out fabric I found pieces from the late 1990s - this can be an interesting project ;-)

Two blocs have come together and more are in the making

Linking up with Kathy and Slow Sunday Stitching - this will be a slow stitching project for the next year or so. Looking forward to seeing what eveyone is stitching on this fine Sunday.
