FNwF and Slow Sunday Stitching

Friday night was Friday Night with Friends over at Cheryll's blog, and I joined in the fun. Coming home from work I got a pizza in the oven and a glass of wine ready, and started prepping some hexies for the previous two clues for Wintry Hexies and started stitching. However I forgot to take pictures along the way... This morning I got the pieces for this week's clue attached - an this is how it is now looking

Probably the most colorful project I have done - but having fun stitching it :-)

Please stop by and see what everyone was up to friday night over at Gone Stitchin' and what is going on on Slow Sunday Stitching at Kathy's Quilts.

Wishing everyone a wonderful Sunday!

FNwF A New MugRug

It has been commented on me using a Christmas mug rug throughout the whole year. So for my Friday Night with Friends sewing, I made up my mind to get going on a new one, breaking into my precious Tula Pink racoon fabric. Won't manage to finish it Friday night, but guess it might get finished over the weekend.

FNwF Filler Blocks and More Stars

It's the first Friday of a new month, and that means Friday Night With Friends bloggie quilting bee hosted by Cheryll over at Gone Stitchin'.

After a quick and simple supper I got cozy on the couch with a glass of red, an Agatha Christie mystery playing (The Secret Adversary from 2015), and got started on the first filler blocks for my Stargazer.

Thinking I might have to conduct a bit of discipline with these, since they are all the same, I fear I might get bored after a while. I have posted a cross-off list in the sidebar of the blog, but I'm not sure if I'll wing it, make a weekly goal, or perhaps a daily goal...

Of course I just had to make another couple of stars as well :-) I'm particularly fond of this fox head star - love the effect of those red fox ears in the center, from a distance it kind of looks like a peppermint candy

Another "tortoise" star - I'm loving this one as well

FNwF: Hopefully Making Progress on Plan C

It's the first day of September, and also the first Friday of this month , and this means there's Friday Night With Friends sewing over at Cheryll's place Gone Stitchin'.

I have got some music playing, my glass of red wine and a huge bowl of popcorn (placed well out of the way of my quilting)

and big hopes of making huge progress on my Plan C quilt.

Goal for tonight is to get the final seams done, the borders stitched on, and get it pressed and sandwiched so I can quilt it over the weekend.

I have sort of made a plan of how it's going to be quilted... but I'm sure it will change along the way.

Stay tuned and hopefully I'll soon have some pictures to share of how it turns out. Until then - there's heaps going on at the houses of everyone participating in the sew-together, gonna go blog hopping on my quilting brakes - join me to see what everyone is up to?

Slow Sunday Stitching

Making a bit more progress on my cream and blue stars table topper. I got the edge attached as my Friday Night with friends, and got it layered. The quilting was started yesterday

This project has been a bit slower to stitch than I had thought, but I'm enjoying every stitch of the way. About 1/3 of the cream section has been quilted. I haven't made up my mind if I'm going to do anything in the blues. Perhaps I'll  get to the binding tonight...

Enjoy your Sunday and your hand work :-)

FNwF - Finishing Up Blue and Cream Epp Stars

Back in January I started playing with some small blue and cream six pointed stars that were to go together into a little table topper

Things happened and it got put to the side, but for Friday Night sewing with friends this month I have pulled it back out to sew tonight, and hope to finish it this weekend. So far I have gotten the final couple of small stars attached, have added the setting triangles, and prepped the final diamonds and started adding them to the edge

Not quite made up my mind how I'm going to quilt it, but I won't attempt anything fancy.

Gonna make myself a cup of tea and go blog hopping to all the other friends who participated in this virtual quilting bee

Thank you for hosting it Cheryll (even if you were away - hope you had a great time in Melbourne!).

FNwF - Spinning Nostalgia

Still trying to bust some stash. Over the years I have accumulated quite a collection of pre-cuts. Not sure how old some of the jelly rolls, honey buns etc are... So the other night, after finishing the little Gazebo mat, I pulled out my large Hex 'n More ruler and a jelly roll of Nostalgia by April Cornell and started cutting:

Tonight some of the blocks have started to come together - think this will be a cute one:

Linking up with Cheryll over at Gone stitchin' and Friday Night with Friends. It's so much fun to sew in this virtual bee, knowing that there are people all over the world participating :-) Going blog hopping over the weekend!

FNwF and TG Block #9 and #9a

Last night was the first Friday of the month and time for February's Friday Night with friends. I have been away with work since Thursday morning, so my FNwF was mostly Friday night with good colleagues. However between the end of yesterdays seminar, and the evening's drinks and dinner, I made a few stitches on one of my blue and white star blocks.

I think I have figured out what to do with these little stars, and I might actually have a finish soon... (?).

Catching up on some blog reading on the bus home this morning I saw that Lisa Bongean had posted block #9 of Triangle Gatherings, so I just had to do some stitching as soon as I got back. Along with the block pattern she has also posted a pic of a woops-block. I think it is pretty darn cute, so I just had to use some of my orphan HSTs to make one of those as well.

There's supposed to be 87 blocks in the TG project - guess this makes the total 88. 9 (10) down, 78 to go :-)

I'm linking up with Cheryll over at Gone Stitchin'... thank you for arranging Friday Night with Friends.

Friday Night With Friends

Last night was this year's first Friday Night With Friends, run by Cheryll over at Gone Stitchin'.

So I picked up some yummy sushi on my way home from work, and got the chocolate out of the kitchen cupboard, and settled in for a night with needle, fabric, tread and yarn.

What did I get up to? I made my block of the week. A 6" Millennium block in greys, blues and beiges:

That is all the sewing I got in... I'm on call at work this weekend, and had a few things I needed to handle, and then the sofa and my knitting called my name:

I managed to make quite a bit of progress on my pink sweater - having heaps of fun with this :-)

What eveyone else was up to last night, you can find here:

Thank you Cheryll for organizing this fun sew together!
