FNSI and Slow Sunday Stitching

Friday night was FNSI over at Wendy's blog, and I had heaps of plans for what I wanted to achieve. When I got home, I dished up a big slice of pizza and a glass of wine

I got my ready cut fabric pieces for Stargazer spread out over the dinner table ready to be glue basted to the paper

However that was about as far as I got before I got distracted by other things and the evening just went by. Yesterday I had big plans of getting back to them after doing some  bit of tidying in the spare room, but I was on duty at work, and whenever I got over to the table the phone would ring.

This morning I have prepped some more hexagons for this week's clue for Wintry Hexies - we'll see how much I get done... not stressing about this.

My seedlings are growing - over the last week the sweet pepper has come up, as well as one little cucumber plant:

FNSI Christmas Wreath

It's the third Friday of the month, and time for Friday Night Sew In in blogland.  Since I have started packing for moving to a new flat a lot of my quilting stuff has been packed away, however I do need some sewing brakes in between packing.


A new flat means new areas to decorate, and Christmas will be here before we know it, and since I had some bits of green and Christmas fabrics that haven't been packed up, this is what I decided to play with

I have been browsing the internet for an idea for a Christmas wreath quilt - lots of nice options that will look fabulous as part of a sampler quilt or something similar, but nothing that spoke to me to be a one block wall hanging... But then I remembered I had seen something in an old book, Egg Money Quilts by Eleanor Burns.

I had some fun watching an old episode of Inspector Morse while needle turn appliqué the plate down  It's a 10" diameter Dresden plate appliqued to a 12.75" of background fabric. The border is a 2.5" strip. Now to get it quilted and bound, and figure out if I'll embellish it somehow.

Round We Go The Weekend

Friday night was this month's Friday Night Sew In, and I prepared for an evening of stitching with a bit of a cheese overload (sooo good *lol*) and a glass of white wine, enjoying my newly finished red snowflake table topper

Earlier in the day I had been to the post office to pick up the newest addition to my library of quilt books

so I have to admit a lot of my sewing time was spent flipping through the pages and drooling over the colorful photos

However I did get one more Round We Go block put together

My basket of blocks is really starting to fill up - however it doesn't look like I have made a dent in my basket of blues - mostly I have been using up small scraps so far

Today is Sunday and time for some more slow stitching - have one more block on the go that I've been stitching on over coffee this morning:

FNSI - addicted to half square triangles

Last night was the third Friday of the month, which meant time for a fun Friday Nigh Sew In with everyone gathered together by Wendy over at Sugar Lane Designs. In my PJ's after a busy week I poured a glass of wine, put on some music and stitched this week's blocks of  Triangle Gatherings

...the seam ripper was used lots last night, and now I just discovered I have turned one of the HSTs on block 12 the wrong way around - guess fixing that is the task for today.


I also sorted through my bowl of bonus HST that has been on my desk forever, snipped off the dog ears and they are now ready to be pressed and stitched into some cute 5" blocks.

Time to make a mug of tea and hop over to Sugar Lane designs and see what everyone was up to last night

FNSI Triangle Gathering

Really tired after a busy week, but I did get some stitching done on last night FNSI. Happy the FNSI gave me a little push to do this week's Triangle Gathering blocks:

These 3" blocks are a little fiddly to do, but heaps of fun :-) Thank you Lisa B for doing this SAL! Now I'm up to date on the blocks 1-5
