Paganimini

Yes, I do know the name of this month's "Le Petite..." project is "Paganini", but...

On the one hand:

  1. I really want to try to make all the little projects Sherri and Sinta has picked for this year
  2. I really loved "Paganini" from the moment I saw a picture on Carrie's blog.
  3. I had fabric more or less all picked from my stash.

On the other hand:

  1. I really don't have much time for another project at the moment,
  2. The fabrics I had picked didn't really inspire me once I sat down to cut them up,
  3. I don't know what to do with the quilt once it's finished (bad argument since I have made so many quilts without having a purpose for them, but sometimes it is a block in the creative process)
  4. I'm running low on batting and I can't prioritize batting shopping at the moment...

Get the picture? Everything negative started piling up in my head! Then I gave it one more thought... what if I dug into my scrap box for some little pieces, and used them as leaders/enders while working on other projects? If it didn't work out, I could always save the pieces for some other scrap project. At the moment we have:

Cute, aren't they? *lol* My blocks are made from 2.5" scrap squares, and 1.25" light squares so my quilt will be about the quarter size of the original - hence the name "Paganimini" *lol* I have high hopes of having the at least the top together by deadline - perhaps even quilted and bound?
Happy quilting!

Borders are on

I promised an update on the Bear's Paw once the borders were on, and this is what it looks like:

A little different, but quite fun ;o) I still have to figure out how I'm going to quilt it, think I might have some stencils that will fit...

Another update is that last night I did a new layout on my leaders and enders blocks, and I think I have enough of these patches for a lap size quilt:

Now I "just" have to do all the setting squares, and I still have lots of these 1.5" squares, so I'm thinking perhaps doing something along the line of a scrappy border... we'll see ;o)

Scrappy happiness

I'm always in awe at the generosity of quilters. When I brought in the mail last night there was an envelope from dear blogging friend Karen Diane over at Living Life at LeeHaven. Guess what... in there were a baggie of gorgeous ready cut lights from her stash so I could play with my scrappy 1.5" inch squares to make some blocks like the ones in this post.

My fingers itching, I let leaders be leaders and enders be enders and sat down at the machine for a couple of hours this morning. Six more little scrappy blocks came together:

Look lovely, dont they? *lol* Thank you so much, Karen!!!

Leaders and enders

Remember this post? I have been using the 1.5" scraps as leaders and enders for my sewing since I did my scrap box clean out, and a little while ago I sorted through what I had done - and this is what it now looks like:

I just love these 25 little scrappy cuties, and plan to make heaps more of them ;o) But at the moment my ice cream tub is out of light 1.5" squares (lots and lots of darks, though), so I'm on a short break from these till some new ones come along!

Hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday!
